I loved this book! It was great to explore the different personality frameworks that I've long been fascinated with, but still have much to learn about. There were many moments of recognizing myself in the pages (especially the section on Highly Sensitive People!). I feel like there's a lot of relief in being able to name our quirks, and better understanding them leads to an easier time navigating them. I will definitely be returning to this book again soon to really nail down my MBTI and Enneagram so I can keep learning!
(I did receive a free copy and know the author in real life, but I promise that if I didn't like it I'd just avoid the topic. I'm very passive-aggressive like that.)
Helpful and insightful. I had heard of some of the personality frameworks and I knew some of the advice that she gave, but there were also new frameworks and new advice. So I learned things. After finishing the book this morning I found myself frustrated. I reflected on what I had learned in the book and found the source of my frustration. I was able to talk myself down a few notches.
This is a book worth sharing with friends who either love personality assessments, or who have no clue about them, but would like to! I love that so many types of personality test types are included, and how each has a simple “what you need to know” explanation of each.
I can see me keeping this book around as a quick reference if I'm conversing with a friend about a particular type of personality assessment and they aren't familiar with it. I'll just whip this book out, let them have a quick read over the basics of a particular type of personality assessment, and off we go back into our conversation.
We personality nerds needed a book like this! Thanks, Anne!
A lovely summary of a number of personality frameworks , some of which I heard of before but didn't know what they're about. I like the author's style of writing and her descriptions were apt + just the right amount of personal anecdotes to accompany the frameworks' descriptions.
I'm sure I'll re-read it again in the future
Since I have taken all of the personality tests (and read a few books on each) that were covered in this book, I didn't learn anything new. I guess this would be helpful for and interesting to someone who doesn't like reading that much or is just embarking into the personality test territory.
