I have to wonder what Fiona Staples thinks when she gets her scripts from Vaughan and it says 2 page panel depicting enormous dragon pleasuring itself orally. What is the proper response for that? I just want to be a fly on that wall.
That said, this is the saddest volume of Saga yet. One of my favorite characters dies horrifically and with no warning There's death and angst and sadness and it's just not fair to anyone involved. Will I keep reading it? Of course. It's brilliant, raw storytelling with amazingly beautiful and brutal art. Do I want to punch Brian K. Vaughan in the face? Little bit, yes.
The colours are amazing. The plot - not so much, kinda filler-ish. Still loving this series though
Blijft dezelfde kwaliteit leveren als de voorgaande volumes. Leuk, origineel, verontrustend, absurd, met diepe thematiek en een spannende verhaallijn, met het artwork als fantastische bonus!
Story
Another enjoyable entry in the series. It's the usual mix of action, perverse humor, and excellent storytelling. We get some backstory on Marko, while the main story moves along a fair bit.
If you haven't checked out Saga yet, you really should. It continues to be consistently great.
Artwork
The artwork is again fantastic. A bit too fantastic in places. I thought Fard was bad, I can't unsee some of the images Ms. Staples has now seared into my brain.
Well, although I really do get tired of all the four-letter words (does anybody ever say that anymore?), and would enjoy the books more without so many of them, I do enjoy the Saga story quite a bit. This volume did not disappoint.
One doesn't stop being surprised by Vaughan's storyline. Everything is new and unexpected, nothing is ever predictable. I like this very much and is one of the reasons I love Saga so much.
If I had to choose one word for this volume that word would be “Sacrifice”. Marko and Prince Robot IV discussions are funny as hell. Some things went wrong. Some got reunited. Some got separated. I was starting to like Dengo, too bad for him.
A fantastic and solid volume.
Personally found it the weakest so far but also it includes an unnecessarily detailed image of a dragon engaged in some auto-fellation so it's still four stars.
Things just keep getting more intense. Poor Dengo. Poor Alana and Marko.
Y'know, it's sorta terrible. I'm really starting to love Prince Robot IV.
