Meet a genuine American folk hero cut from the homespun cloth of America's heartland: Sam Walton, who parlayed a single dime store in a hardscrabble cotton town into Wal-Mart, the largest retailer in the world. The undisputed merchant king of the late twentieth century, Sam never lost the common touch. Here, finally, inimitable words. Genuinely modest, but always sure if his ambitions and achievements. Sam shares his thinking in a candid, straight-from-the-shoulder style.
In a story rich with anecdotes and the "rules of the road" of both Main Street and Wall Street, Sam Walton chronicles the inspiration, heart, and optimism that propelled him to lasso the American Dream.

An incredible autobiography of the legendary Sam Walton. Must read for all people starting their careers. Excellent advise on selling, speaking and management. Gives a perspective on the lessons Mr. Walton learned from his journey to the top. Heartwarming stories and anecdotes, peppered with quotes by Walmart associates, employees and even competitors make this worth reading for anyone interested in management, leadership and customer service.
A true American hero. So many ideas being thrown around in the market in the name of e-commerce is just simple digitization of Sam Walton's owned/borrowed ideas.
A very very interesting read this!
I had NO IDEA how badass the Walmart founder and his story and his philosophy were. I had no idea how interesting one can make the retail industry seem. Such a passionate book. It could have been even longer I wouldn't mind, and I rarely say that about books. No BS, no fluff; straight wisdom within this one. Unfortunately I can only find one video on YouTube of this guy actually saying anything and it's not very good.
