Scream of the Evil Genie

Meh. Just... meh. This one disappointed me.

The way the wishes go wrong - and we all know they will; that's the entire point of genies in horror stories - are sometimes entertaining but also sometimes incredibly dull. There's also one wish path that basically instantly leads to a bad ending and a minimum of two ways to reach one of the bad ends - exact same pages, not just similar - except one way is incredibly forced and ridiculous. Not only does the genie change inexplicably, but one time a completely different genie shows up for one of the wishes and doesn't even play by the established, implied lore of the universe, instead intimidating the reader character into panic-wishing in a way the reader has no control over at all. That's not fun! And it's certainly not interactive.

This book needed a lot more thought and some stronger imagination put into it.
