un libro diferente al romance de estas autoras, pero me gustó que le metiesen acción y la búsqueda del tesoro, además de las escenas caóticas lol
I am always wary when my favorite authors branch out and write something a bit different than what I am used to reading from them but shame on me for ever questioning Christina Lauren. I really loved this book. It was the perfect mix of second chance romance and adventure/mystery. It was such a fun read with all kinds of twists and turns that kept me on my toes. Highly recommend!
I expected way more. But this book just turned out to be somewhat illogical hiking trip with already established relationship that started from instalove. I just didn't see the relationship between Lily and Leo as something that would be successfull.
Guys, you all know I love Christina Lauren so much. But this book? Buck wild. The story follows a woman who's late father was a treasure hunter. She now uses his notes to run little tourist expeditions to do fake treasure hunts so she can buy her land back. When the man she had a summer romance with comes with his friends to do this expedition, the two must come to terms with the miscommunications they had in the past. From there, the plot goes off the rails.
First, something very big and very dark happens pretty quickly towards the beginning of the story, and no one acts like how a normal human would act in this circumstance. I was so confused. And then the plot just kept taking more and more wild turns. And the fact there was still a romance happening this whole time just felt so wild.
Ultimately, the romance was cute, but the plot got so out of hand I just didn't find any of the story believable. It did give me some national treasure vibes so I loved that.
After 2020 Christina Lauren wanted to write something fun to counterbalance the pandemic and thus, this is a very different book from the previous ones. The story is a second chance romance between Lili, a treasure hunting tour guide, and Leo, the man who broke her heart and, unknowingly, ends up making one of her tours with his friends. Although it was easy to guess where the story was going, I thought it was entertaining read and it is probably my favourite book from the Duo after [b:Love and Other Words 36206591 Love and Other Words Christina Lauren https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1519633303l/36206591.SY75.jpg 57837128]. My main complaint regards to the third person narrator that I don't think it worked well here and created a weird story flow between the different POV.The romance is not the main focus of the book and because of that, I think it might not appeal to all the CL usual readers. However, I liked that the book distance itself a bit from the traditional romance formulas and created something a little bit more unexpected.
This book is romantic suspense in a way I typically don't see in that genre. Tons of adventure, twists, action, and plenty of sexual tension between the main couple. Something Wilder is fun, shocking, and at it's core heartfelt. Definitely recommend for Christina Lauren fans who have ever dreamed about long lost treasure or love.
