Sometimes Beaton made me feel a little dim and uneducated on history and literature - some comics sailed right over my head because I didn't have the context for them.
However, the stuff that hit was a total bullseye. My favorite has to be Strong Female Characters, which deserve four stars all by themselves!
Kate Beaton amuses me greatly. Occasionally, I have no idea what she's referencing though and this is definitely not a book for the ignorant.
I read most of these online already (and you probably did too) but it was just delightful to revisit them. So sharp and funny, just so good.
Also it's a very nice volume, very suitable for gift-giving.
This collection contains some laugh out love bits I will adore forever and a bunch of strips I didn't quite get and was too lazy to Google. Worth a read!
