Terminal Boredom: Stories

I decided to pick up this novel after reading a brief preview of the collection on The Guardian. I knew going in that they would skew on the bleak side. I tend to like sci fi that plays heavy into the human aspect of such stories and these were quite a somber take on life. By the time I got to the third story, I could get a sense for Izumi Suzuki's view of people/life that she held as those particular feelings were interwoven into the characters of each story. Almost all of the characters prominently featured in the story had a particular unenchanted view of life.

Este libro estuvo increíble. Probablemente de las mejores colecciones de historias que he leído. La palabra predecir no cubre lo que logran estas historias. De verdad siento que son proféticas, clarividentes. Imposible de comprender como pudieron ser escritas en los 70, siendo más relevantes ahora que nunca. Cuentos que permanecen frescos a pesar de la nada que nos barre. Izumi Suzuki de verdad es una joya que brilla a través de las voces de sus múltiples traductores en esta primera edición en inglés. Es ciencia ficción que te mueve a pensar, que se cuestiona el género y te presenta el asco y la indiferencia y la adicción en una bandeja de hospital.
