I don't know what I was expecting from this book, for being honest. However, this turned out to be surprising. The whole book is about a single mother trying to raise her daughter and it's not very interesting. at a certain point I wanted to give up the book. The author describes the mundane life of the protagonists, and it got boring after a while.
What I liked about the story was the use of symbolism. It fit the scenes perfectly and it had a philosophical side.
I won this book through GoodReads and I thank to publishers for providing me this copy. My review isn't influenced by this fact.
A balance of the bleak and the hopeful. The apartment of the name is by times terrifying and welcoming. I had a typical north american reaction to the protagonist leaving her child alone at home to go out drinking! To be clear this was presented as an anomaly and indication of something like a rock bottom for her.
