The Assault on Reason

This book made me sad. I think if Mr. Gore had been willing to present himself as passionatly and strong as he presents his ideas in this book then the last 8 years would have been different.

Begint zeer sterk, eindigt in een schier eindeloze aframmeling van almaar ahallucinerender wordende verhalen over het Bush-regime.

Liever meer theorie voor mij, en meer voorbeelden uit andere sectoren dan alleen maar het Witte Huis onder GWB. De “Assault on Reason” die uitgevoerd wordt, wordt niet alleen daar, en niet alleen in de VS uitgevoerd.

Lovenswardig ook hoe de man optimistisch blijft. Een slechter mens dan mij zou hem naiviteit verwijten.

Euh, maar voor de rest: een mens vraagt zich af hoe het zou geweest zijn met Gore waar nu W zit, natuurlijk.

I've had this sitting in my collection unfinished for years now. Once so excited about it (I'm a huge fan of Gore on the whole), it's essentially a book-length indictment of Bush rather than a real defense of reason-based policy. That's fine, but now it's 2010, the damage of the Bush administration is not news, and though it must never be forgotten, I'm full for now. Shelving this about 2/3 of the way through.
