I only recently found out about this graphic novel series, based on a concept by Neil Gaimen and featuring one of his most loved characters from his Sandman series: Death. As a big fan of the Sandman series I couldn't have been happier to find this and wasn't disappointed with it at all. One of my favourite storylines in Sandman featured Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and this first volume continues in that vein. At the core it's about a young boy trying to find his identity while being swept up in a discord in the land of Faerie between the mortal Tamlin and fairy queen Titania. Finding out what he's made of and what makes him himself made a very touching story for anyone who has ever felt unsure about themselves. The storytelling of Gaimen is always enjoyable and this is another case of his ability to spin a tale that is both magical and meaningful.
