God, I have no idea how this book has more than a 1 star rating. It's terribly cliche, the characters are annoying as hell, the storyline is dry as hell. Lewis is a terrible lover interest, Summer is a dab lead character, Clover is a horrible villain. Don't read this garbage. Just don't.
Very enjoyable read. Some graphic scenes, but that's to be expected in a kidnapping/thriller book.
This book would have been so much shorter if it didn't repeat the same things over and over again. It's so repetitive and the story feels contrived. After I got to chapter 6, I ended up skimming through the rest. I could jump over several paragraphs and not miss a thing. Once I got towards the end of the book, it got a little better but not much. The flashback chapters were completely irrelevant. I was happy once I finished the book which is why it gets a 1 star from me.

I wanted to like this book so much. So, so much, but every time something was explained that we already knew I contemplated closing it. I'm 76% positive that you could cut this book in half by only taking out un-needed parts and it would be soo much better if someone had done so.
The first time I read this book in middle school, I thought it was incredible. Now, it's pretty insufferable. If it had been executed properly with more character development beyond incessant whining, it would have been great, but, sadly that didn't happen. I hated every single one of the characters besides the kidnapper, for fuck's sake.
Summer, to start off with, I had absolutely no sympathy for. She just whined and bitched and moaned in the least endearing way the whole book and was only focused on her boyfriend. Like, your family, do they matter?
Then Lewis, who I couldn't stand for even one second. I skipped over every one of his chapters because it was just filled with sappy love shit every other line.
The only vaguely interesting character was Clover/Colin, who at least had some depth, some mystery, some intrigue.
The writing in this was also horrendous. There's was no mystery or beauty to it; it was all tell and no show. all of the characters thoughts that were written were cringy to read.
All in all, this is a 1.5 star book. Clover earned that .5
