Tons of action with plenty of great detail. I have to admit that the conspiracy angle became tiresome after a while, but that didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the book. I was in the mood for a fun read that I didn't have to spend too much time thinking about and this book really hit the spot. I wouldn't put it on a “Favorites” list, but I definitely want to read the next book in the series. If the other books aren't so full of twists and turns and stick to more straight plots now that we know who the main players are, I could easily see them getting four star ratings.
A fast-paced thriller. So fast, that I had a little trouble keeping up. In between firefights, there was hacking, neuroscience, genetics, a course in modern weaponry, a global conspiracy, immortality, several psychopathic villains, and much more. My thanks to Mr. Farrugia for sending me a free copy. I'm a little weirded out by the author's marketing tactic of requesting to be added as a friend, accepting the friend request, getting the free book offer, then being unfriended. Seems like a lot of work. I guess this doesn't really have anything to do with whether or not you would want to read the book. I just hadn't encountered this path to new reading material before.
I am a huge fan of Matt Reilly's scarecrow and thus a sucker for anything that comes close. That's why the summary on this book appealed to me. Sadly, am not sure I should add this as a book I have read! The writing was so childish that I could not get past 30 pages despite having started twice. The text is too simplistic and will probably appeal to a 10 year old but for me I felt it was challenging my intellect. The dialogue between the characters was the biggest let down with inane comments popping up randomly. Sadly the start being so poor I will not bother to go back and read this even if it had a 4.5 rating.
