Thirty-one-year-old writer and translator Russell Todaro, having witnessed an armed robbery attempt on his hotel room and the subsequent death of his lover, Ed, finds the dead man's unpublished memoirs and seeks refuge at the Italian villa of a friend, where he must decide is he should follow Ed's wishes and ruin the manuscript or hand it over to his publisher.
