Nancy is determined to make the cover of her very first book report as fancy as she can, but she spends so much time on it that she has no time to write about the book.

This may be one of my favorite of the Fancy Nancy early readers. The ones I love are the ones which go a step further not just in entertainment, but in educational value as well and this one does just that. Join Nancy and her class as they go to the library and then work on a book report. Of course Nancy's folder to hold her book report needs to be fancy and time seems to slip away for the actual report part.
What I love about this is that the knowledge is there and Nancy's teacher is able to encourage Nancy to participate and share the information in an oral manner and didn't just penalize her for getting distracted on the visual. I think this could be followed with a discussion of following directions on a future assignment. Yet at the same time perhaps Nancy's learning style is to absorb the information as she is preparing and arranging her art. Learning is the ultimate goal and I love how this book portrays that!
