One of the tropiest of tropefests I have read in a while. A poor prodigy brought to a fancy school unleashes a devil from a secret book. With nods to pretty much every YA trope out there this is not the most original or creative story out there. The prose is written well enough but the storyline was predictable, the teenage angst annoying and I found it ticking most of my pet dislikes within the genre.
I feel so bad for not liking this book, because it sounded like my cup of tea. I did like the atmosphere in the book, but I disliked the writing style and I couldn't care less for the characters.
I had so much fun reading this!
Hunted library, strong heroine, magic, the devil... this story flew by! Couldn't read it fast enough.
I know this was technically almost a horror book but the romance arc made me feel more feelings than the last real romances I read.
Whatever THAT says about me..

A creepy library
This book gave everything and more. I was so invested in Eliot and Tess's relationship, the relationship between the Devil and Tess. EVERYTHING
I was scared, eager, crying while reading this book.
Eliot was perfect in a broken human way. I wanted to take him and protect him for the world.
This is a standalone and the ending! sh*t me! It left you in a bang right where you think everything is going to be fine.
Don't get me wrong this can start of slow, but the slow build to the relationships, the world is incredible. How the two became friends, how they chose to confide in each other while dealing with their own problems.
THIS BOOK IS PERFECTION
I would give my soul for another book in Tess and Eliot's world
Everyone GO READ THIS BOOK
Couldn't say I cared much for the characters, which made the final pages not too interesting.
Absolutely loved the concept of the book and the parts with the devil where written well! But then there is the part where the writer tries to make it a semi-romantic book which felt very much unnecessary.
Didn't love it, didn't hate it.
