What happens when a legacy of ruin mates with a realm of blood?
Heir to the notorious Tenebrae Outfit, Dante Maroni has been trained since birth. A silent rebel in the shadows, he has learned to hide his ruthlessness under his charm, his brutality under his suits, and his love for one woman under his silence. Infiltrating the Syndicate responsible for the missing children, Dante discovers information that shatters his reality and forces him to trigger a lethal game.
Daughter of the Maroni housekeeper, Amara has loved Dante for longer than she's known it. Abducted and tortured at the young age of fifteen, she loses herself, her life, and her home as she knows it. Years after, unknowingly protected, she's found some semblance of normalcy when her world collapses again, forcing her to join the game.
Mysteries are unraveled. Secrets are discovered. And their young love is transformed, replaced by a deep intimacy, power, and survival.
The reluctant king and inevitable queen play.
An empire of death is born.

Reviews with the most likes.
The men in the Dark Verse universe, they are built differently. They are an entirely different species altogether. They are neither black nor white, they are different shades of grey. And they are so dishy, dammit!
And the women. The women are my favourites so far. Out of so many books I've read, they are definitely my top favourite. They're so fucking smart, brave, resilient, and so many other things. They're not the whiny type, which most female characters tend to be. They think fast and they certainly do not dwell in uncertainties. They have a mind of their own and they are fucking sharp. And lethal. And strong.
Amara, especially, is the very definition of strong. Of resilience. Traumatised at the very early age of 15, she fought the darkness that tried to consume her whole. She doesn't give in easily and she certainly did not let her past stop her from being whatever she wants to be. She is the perfect fit to Dante Maroni. She is the befitting queen to her king. She is the beat to his heart. She is the empress to her emperor.
“You're not going to walk through life, Amara.”“You'll dance through it. And I'll fucking remove anyone who tries to break your rhythm. I promise you.” — Dante Maroni.
Different breed, I tell you.
i just love this characters so much it's a little embarrassing
This was worse than even a wattpad book. I mean I found both Dante and Amara to be annoying. I am so tired of having strong female characters who are still so morally good but all the men are excused of being shitty after trauma.
