The Hollow Boy

Dropped a few reveals into Lockwood's past. but nothing really happened until the final quarter of the story. Don't know why Stroud's drawing out this series that started so strongly. This book felt like filler. Still enjoy the audio narrator's ability to create distinctly voiced characters, but if the next book isn't the conclusion, then it won't be worth it to keep up with the series.

Wow that was really something, ok so the characters continue growing, Lockwood is not as secretive as before(although he is still hiding something), Lucy continues to be the overachiever in this group (also her talent is becoming stronger, I only wish she can control it), George as a researcher the best of the best, others, well his hygiene still is a big issue, The Skull still as obnoxious and sinister as before and a new staff member Holly Munro, hired because they had too much on their plate!!!!

So we still have the usual type one and twos, hoping for a type three or higher!!!!!

I gotta say these books are pretty scary for children's books. So the perfect amount of scary for me because I don't think I'd be able to handle scarier. I love them, they are funny and charming and spooky. Love it. Can't wait for the next book. I also have to say I really loved George in this book and am disappointed that Lucy doesn't really have any female friends, it was very apparent in this book with the introduction of the assistant. Now to be fair the only real friends Lucy has are Lockwood and George and they are her coworker/room mates. Everyone else is just an acquaintance who she tolerates at best male or female but I would love for her to have at least one good female friend.

This really set up the story for the rest of the series! I don't trust anyone and really want to know what's going on. Lockwood and Co are finding out old secrets and saving people of course. But they also work with a few other people and I liked to see that. There was also more relational drama and that didn't get resolved, so I finished this audiobook and immediately checked out the next one!

Although this one is my least favourite in the series, it's still SO SO SO good. I love these characters so much. I understand that some people are frustrated with Lucy because of her behaviour, but... I think it's very realistic. She's not perfect and she's just a teenage girl after all. I can't wait to read the next book to be back in this world again!
