"John Difool, a low-class detective in a degenerate dystopian world, finds his life turned upside down when he discovers an ancient, mystical artifact called 'The Incal.' Difool's adventures will bring him into conflict with the galaxy's greatest warrior, the Metabaron, and will pit him against the awesome powers of the Technopope. These encounters and many more make up a tale of comic and cosmic proportions that has Difool fighting for not only his very survival, but also the survival of the entire universe."--

I came to this for the art, but I'm not convinced by the story. It's pretty weird.
Maybe this was groundbreaking in the '80s ... but right now this feels like a comic book generated by AI. One random bizarre thing... here... get another RANDOM & BIZARRE THING... no no no GET ANOTHER RANDOM AND BIZARRE THING... does it make sense? YES? Nono no GET ANOTHER random and bizarre thing.
I think it's one of those things that people got used to say “OMG it's so good!” so you hear about it, then your friends tell you about it, you read it and ... you feel like you have to like it so you have to say “omg it's so good”. So the loop keeps going and going.
