Very Scandi-noir, with a suitable dark undertone, however i found the plot contrivances a little bit too contrived. I probable will return to the other ones of the series, but right now I think I will read a Val McDermid first.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a page turner for me. Even though there were aspects that I absolutely saw coming I remained intrigued by character development and minor plot lines. Fast paced and fun! ( As much as a crime novel can be noted as fun) I believe the main character could easily transfer well onto film or TV.
Gave up after chap 19. Mystery crime novels can be good, but enough with the abducted woman story line.
The narration of the audiobook got in my way with this one for a while but I ended up rather liking it. Not too gruesome.
What I enjoy following in all of these Scandinavian mystery/police thrillers at the moment is how the authors are grappling with the increasing multiculturalism of their countries in the mysteries they solve. In that light, Morck's assistant is a real gem.
