I am just so damn happy for this book, and the series as a whole. It never failed my expectations, not even a tiny bit! It was very fun and kept me attached to the plot. After 5 books, we finally get to know what the GREAT PROPHECY is all about. So much has happened in this book that some parts seems to become a blur to me.
For the characters, i was so happy for Percy's mom because she finally found someone who truly deserves her. Nico di Angelo's character was a great deal in this book and I'm glad he didn't actually turn out like the person I'd thought he'd be. And Luke was kind of the real hero here (i won't spoil so just read it). And guess what, PERCABETH is official!!!
I don't wanna say too much because my reviews are getting really tedious and what I have to say is almost similar to the previous books. I just really think that this was the best ending for such an unforgettable series. It won't dissapoint you with its ending. I RECOMMEND OH SO SO SO MUCH!!!
the last half of this book is just that final scene in the nge series where everyone is clapping and saying “congratulations
Has the common trope of ending an epic fantasy/sci-fi series with a very long and epic battle. This probably started with Lord of The Rings, and has continued with Harry Potter, and dived into film, like Avengers: Endgame. This trope can get pretty stale. Endgame being an example of that. But this series, miraculously, could never get stale. This book really defines the word “epic” from the start. It never wastes time, but still manages to have time for some great character moments. I don't remember much at all about this book from reading it as a kid, and there were so many emotionally powerful moments. Like Percy turning down being a God, and the many moments with Hermes talking about Luke. Incredible stuff and not something you would expect to see for a book for kids. I thought the mythology would be less fun with the titans taking a front seat but it really wasn't. Prometheus was one of my favorite characters of the entire series. I am very ready to read the “Heroes of Olympus”.
What an ending. As far as series go, it ended very well. Riordan wrapped up loose ends and still left the possibly of picking up a new story in The Lost Hero. I was kind of sad to see these characters go. I'm definitely going to look forward to reading The Lost Hero and the new adventures Camp Half Blood will have in the future.
The charm and real-world settings of the first book decreased with each book in the series. This one had too much going on. Did not like the dream sequences and flashbacks, and just overall felt like too much action and not enough heart was put into the final book of the series. I liked the end and Percy's gift granted of gods recognizing all of their childrenbut until then I just felt myself skimming to the end.
The best one!
Thrilling throughout the whole story, a lot of knots are tied up and it feels like a worthy ending for the series.
This was a nice ending to the series, if slightly anticlimactic.
Don't get me wrong, I quite liked it - both where it started and where it ended. I liked the plot twists and how the author brought it all together.
I just feel as though the power balance was too vague and inconsistent and that made it harder to suspend disbelief than usual.
Regardless, I had a good time and can't wait to read the next series that continues the story!
The series finale delivers on a grand scale. The tone of the final battle scenes reminds you that this is still a YA book, but it's still well worth the read.
Age range: 10+
Younger readers may find it a little scary.
LITERAL PERFECTION!! It's amazing to see how much everyone has grown throughout the series and the relationships that have been forged and strengthened!
NOT ONLY WAS ANNABETH THE ONE TO HELP HIM GET OUT OF THE RIVER AND GAIN HIS IMMORTALITY BUT HE GAVE UP BECOMING AN ATUAL GOD FOR HER!!!! And the Sally x Paul duo could NOT be more perfect!! They even slay monsters together
no book ending will ever make me feel the emotions that this specific book ending did
The amazing final book of the Percy Jackson series.
The final battle between the Titans and the Olympians is starting. Typhon has awakened and is now wreaking havoc everywhere. With the Gods busy battling them, and Poseidon defending his own undersea kingdom, it's up to Percy and his friends to defend New York from the assaults led by their former friend — Luke Castellan.
While the Great Prophecy doesn't sound too good, Percy has a lot of other things he needs to worry about. Hades won't help the Olympians, just like how the Ares cabin refuses to help their friends, and there is still a spy among them. When he meets Luke's mother in person, Percy knows that there are still many mysteries left unsolved.
Follow Percy's last adventure as he eventually makes the ultimate decision, fulfilling his role as it was described in the Great Prophecy. The fate of Olympus is indeed in his hands.. though what will happen next isn't exactly what he expected.
I love Rick Riordan's writing style as well as the amount of action is his books. The Last Olympian is fast-paced and full of action, just like the other books in the series. Because they're not on a “mission” this time, for me this book doesn't feel as adventurous as the prequels. However, the descriptive battle scenes and unpredictable twists makes up for it.
Since I love almost all of the major characters, it's really relieving that none of them died in the book. A lot of people might not share the same opinion, but I might not be able to enjoy the ending if someone important dies.
Overall, this is a great finale for the Percy Jackson series. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys fantasy and adventure, mixed with Greek mythology. :)
I haven't completed a series in a really long time so I'm really happy to start off the year with the end of the Percy Jackson series.
The Last Olympian had callbacks to previous books, classic Percy Jackson humour, and a great message about a sense belonging.
I'm generally not the biggest fan of war-based books but I think The Last Olympian balanced out the war-plot with the character arcs really well.
My favourite scene from the book:
“I am the least of the gods. Why would you trust me with this?”
“You're the last Olympian,” I said.
“And the most important.”
“And why is that, Percy Jackson?”
“Because Hope survives best at the hearth,”
The series concluded well and the prophecy at the end of the book made me want to read the next series.
Cuando se dice que es la batalla final, literalmente es la batalla final. Todo el libro es combate tras combate, justo como debe ser.
Ok just wow!!! Now that was a great fun-filled, action-packed, chaotic and delightful read. I wasn't sure how the author was going to wrap this one up and was a little anxious to read this. Talk about the perfect package all wrapped up with a pretty bow.
Now it's time to move on the the spin-offs!!
Percy Jackson is the best narrator ever. I'm still in awe after reading this.
This series ended with the next great prophecies, to be continued to the next series, heroes of olympus.
I finally finished the Percy Jackson series and it only took me like.... 8 years. I feel so accomplished! I was so stuck on Battle of Labyrinth, but I loved The Last Olympian. I felt like everything was wrapped up so nicely and I loved the way the finished out Luke's story. MY HEART. I just still can't believe it took me SO LONG to finish this damn series, but now I want more. I think my favorite part of The Last Olympian was all of the reunions of characters from previous books, as well as the way that they tied everything up and I feel like Riordan really tied up the loose ends well.
This is by far my favourite out of the 5 Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Safe to say Rick Riordan has a new fan and I'm gonna have to borrow the rest of the gazillion other books in the universe.
Percy is stupidly powerful yet somehow manages to be the most sarcastic teenager I have ever met. All the characters are both loveable and want to make you shake them into some sense because oh boy do they make some dumb decisions some time.
There were so many hair gripping moments where I did not know what was coming next. Also so many sad moments like wtf. The battle scenes were written to keep you engaged throughout (and there were a lot of battle scenes). I love Percy and all the other characters and am so happy with how it ended. I'm excited to see where it will take them all. I've officially entered my Greek mythology era again :)
