Very uneven; the writer is still learning his trade. Dialogue is stilted, the main character changes emotions very quickly, action scenes are not clear. I wonder if he improved because there are a lot more books in this series, but I'm not going to find out.
An American James Bond
My title says it all really. This felt a lot like an American version of James Bond. Multiple beautiful women, travelling around the world, often a woman companion to aid in his gun battles and fights.
It was a cracking action book and I'm glad I've now found another action series worth reading. Didn't quite blow me away like The Gray Man or The Terminal List did, but no other action books have. I look forward to reading the sequel at some point. Also nice to see an action character with a bit of a sense of humour and personality!
This looks to be another series with a lead character in the vein of Jack Reacher or Mitch Rapp. I tend to enjoy those types of thrillers, if done well, and this one definitely fits the bill.
Scot Harvath is a good lead character with grit, determination, and skills. The scenarios the author throws at him are fairly believable, suspenseful and pretty original.
Definitely worth the read. Will be adding more to my shelf for sure.
