The Measure of Katie Calloway

An enjoyable read by a new-to-me author. Katie runs from her wrecked Southern home when her abusive husband attempts to kill her in cold blood, taking her young brother with her. She goes as far to the end of the rail line as her money will take her and ends up with a job as camp cook for a lumber camp. I enjoyed the tales of life in the north woods and look forward to more of this series.
