Ah, what to say about this book?! It was so utterly brilliant that I'm still feeling sad that I finished it!
The story had brilliant, larger than life characters from Evie herself to Caroline to Mrs Scott Pyms. The characters became like family and it was a pleasure to become lost in their world. Evie was such a fantastic character..I love how she never let the evil workings of Christine get her down (she did better then I might've done in her circumstances. I probably would've throttled Christine a good few times before the end of the book! She really was that horrible!)
Evie lost her mum at a young age and was bought up by her dad, Arthur. This meant there were some sad moments in the story, but mostly it was filled with hilarious, laugh out loud moments or warm scenes between Evie and Mrs Scott Pyms/Caroline/Authur.
With everything going on in the world right now, this couldn't be a more perfect read and I honestly couldn't recommend it highly enough.
I was sad to see the end of this, but there will a sequel (heard straight from Matson himself!) so I will be sitting here waiting impatiently to see what adventures await Evie next!
I read this on Pigeonhole so thanks to them, but special thanks go to Matson Taylor, who as well as reading along with us provided us with some wonderful insights into the book. Matson, if you read this, please know that your insights made this one unforgettable reading experience. I'm calling it now. This has been my favourite read of the year.
Can be read for free through The Pigeonhole for the next two weeks.
Reading this in parts rather than in one go definitely made me more excited to read on. Whilst not perfect, it's definitely a fun story filled with drama, intrigue, and a happy ending.
