Princess Pinecone would like a real war horse for her birthday, instead of which she gets a plump, cute pony--but sometimes cuteness can be a kind of weapon, especially in a fight with dodgeballs and spitballs and hairballs and squareballs.

I love Hark, A Vagrant! so I was excited to check this out from the library for my kids. They really enjoyed the pony in the story (particularly its farting).
I do feel like the story kind of got away in the middle, but they also liked seeing all the different sweaters at the end.
TOO PRESH you guys, too presh. Plus: a super fun book featuring a mixed-race princess and warriors breaking down gender roles with an ~adorable pony~????? plus farting.
