This last installment of the Folk of the Air trilogy was a much faster read than the two previous novels.

This has been my favorite series by Holly Black. It's a fun story with strong and interesting characters.
Nothing grand but very addictive and an amazing conclusion to one of my favorite trilogies.
wow okay, i finished this book in a day because i was so excited to be back in elfhame with cardan and jude.
i think if i wasn't so attached to the characters and their individual storylines, i would've rated this 3/5. i loved it, but the book was over too quick, and had it been a mere 100 pages longer, so much of what happened could've been elaborated on.
there were plots that could've been expanded ever so slightly, and there are still so many questions left unanswered from the wicked king.
all in all, it was an exciting read. i just wish it was longer
zoooooomed through this so i could start a new book LOL
overall for the whole series, 8/10. loved it and will re-read for sure.
Yes! A perfect ending to this series: twisty and dramatic and sweet all at the same time!
My interest in this trilogy waned a bit with the middle book but this really stuck the landing for me! Very fun and satisfying <3
Nothing beats starting the new year with a book withdrawal, right? It's gonna be hard to top Jude and Cardan, that's for sure. \(^o^)/
[2.5]
This series felt awfully average, don't really get the hype. The world building is non-existent, the romance is way too underdeveloped and the characters outside of Jude don't really get that much focus or development. Even Cardan felt like a side character 90% of the time and we don't really see that many interactions with him. Enjoyed the first book way more than the last 2, and found Cardan so much more interesting there with a lot of room for growth. Granted, it was entertaining enough to make me want to finish the series.
i don't even know what to say at this point. i'm so disappointed and satisfied all at the same time. stan my sapphic queens Vivi and Heather.
P.S. - “She is my mate. And my spy,” I said too quietly. “And she is the High Lady of the Night Court.” + ”She is my wife.” Cardan says, his voice carrying over the crowd. “The rightful High Queen of Elfhame.” = MY ETERNAL SUFFERINGGGGG WE LOVE SIMPING MEN WHO PUT BADASS WOMEN IN POSITIONS OF POWER
The amount I can read sometimes truly startles me. When there are no distractions, I can get through books quite quickly and it's truly a blessing in disguise
Rating has gone from 4 stars to 4.5 stars!!
The finale in its series presents a rollercoaster of plot twists and turns, but ultimately, it feels like it could have been more effective if combined with the previous book. While the ambition to create a thrilling conclusion is apparent, the execution falls short, leaving much to be desired. The story is packed with surprises, but these elements are not given enough room to be fully fleshed out or explored. This approach results in a narrative that feels rushed and somewhat disjointed, making it challenging for readers to fully immerse themselves in the story.
The book's pacing is uneven, with some sections moving too quickly to allow significant developments to resonate. It's as if the author tried to cram too many ideas into one book, which might have been more impactful if allowed to unfold over a more extended narrative. This compression of events leads to confusion rather than the intended surprise or excitement, as key plot points seem to appear out of nowhere without sufficient buildup or context.
Character arcs, which have been carefully developed over the series, also suffer in this condensed format. The rapid progression of the plot leaves little space for characters to react and evolve in a way that feels true to their established personalities. This lack of character depth in crucial moments undermines the emotional investment in the story.
In conclusion, The Queen of Nothing demonstrates potential but is hindered by its attempt to cover too much ground in a limited space. A merger with the previous book, allowing for a more expansive and detailed exploration of the plot and characters, could have provided a more satisfying and coherent conclusion to this intriguing series.”
