Quite a powerful coming-of-age autobiography. Jill Conway had a unique upbringing and was a very special person. The story of her early years on the Coorain sheep station is especially poignant. And when nature and tragedy forced that country girl and her family to move to the big city (Sydney), naturally things could not go smoothly or be easy. But, she was one tough young lady.
The cover text gives a good idea of what to expect. Read that first.
Barbara Caruso's narration of the audio version is quite good (though with a few timing glitches).
