Definitely a good read, except for some nitpickings on my own POV.
General Mikael, one of a series of robots known as a liason robot, with a sentient AI, he was turned into a combat robot when a rogue AI started attacking humans, due to his heroics, he was one of the few fully sentient robots that was allowed to “live”, as years turned to decades to century, he was the only one left to carry on fighting, earning the rank of General, fighting the good fight.
The story was straight forward, fighting a war to liberate the Erudians from the clutches of Shamblers(mind controlling aliens that sends their controlled subjects to destroy their own planet, thus making their invasion easier) and the Vesuvian Empire (an empire based on stealing technology from others and subverting into their own), we have mechs, soldiers and Shambled Erudians, a war on two fronts, then the main plot surfaces, a charge of treason on General Mikael and his effort to clear the allegations while a war is ongoing.
Rant time, I love sentient robots, watching R2D2 and C3PO and countless others, but General Mikael comes as unique and at the same time exasperating, I would be so engrossed in reading then suddenly, human like mannerisms would just spoil it, I mean his oil boiling like the proverbial blood, and so much more, just nuisances, but overall a good, good sci-fi universe, ohhh did I mention “TIME -JUMPERS”!!!!
Waiting for the second one eagerly, just please Mr. Anthony, no more of those mimicking human emotive traits........”shudders”........
