The Secret Life of Dorothy Soames

A clear-eyed look at a difficult mother/daughter relationship. Even though some of the subject matter is harrowing, it never devolves to being maudlin or overly dramatized. I really admire the author's ability to come to terms with her Mother's behavior & their relationship (or lack there of) with compassion thereby letting go of the hurt that had plagued her for years.
