I listened to this book rather than reading a hard copy, as the audiobook is narrated by Joanna and there is something quite special about being able to listen to the author of a book read it in their own voice. It's my favorite way to enjoy a modern memoir.
Whilst full of lovely sentiments, inspiring thoughts and sweet memories, I found myself wishing that Joanna had let us in a little more as she wrote. The book gave me the feeling that she was holding back and I think it could have been so much more special if she had gone just a little bit deeper.
I didn't know that Joanna was bullied as child. Even thou I don't think I was ever bullied as a child in school but I was bullied by my grandmother who I didn't really care about or had a relationship with when she was alive cause I remember her always saying something about me or to me. The job that I am at now is the one job that I am loving then I was working in a spa which I really hated. But the in schools you don't have to worry about weekends, holidays, and having summer vacation or even snow days are always a pleasure. I do have a place where I want to get away from other people and of course being at work all day and having to week 5 days week and that escape is upstairs or if I am reading a book or going to the beach. Those are my happy places.
