“He was bothered especially by the fact that he should be more upset about it than he was. And yet he wasn't. Somehow being here tonight, with a pastry box of tiramisu, felt strangely inevitable.”
I loved both Lizzie and Chris. Lizzie is a strong woman that just needs to escape all the pressure of being a Baron and to forget her family's expectations, especially her dad's, so she does forget it for one night with... Chris. I have to say I really liked the way the book started with Lizzie taking the pregnancy test, very original, I also liked that Chris thought she was going to tell him she had an STD and he needed to be tested, it felt realistic, I mean if a guy wears a condom, they usually don't think about a pregnancy even though it is possible, right? Lizzie's fear about not being a good mother also felt realistic due to what her own mother did and the fact that she couldn't stop thinking about her mother's reasons, to behave that way, added more depth to her fear.
The story was well paced and didn't feel like it was rushed. I enjoyed the way Chris and Lizzie tried to overcome their issues and fears. But I think the main story of what (or who...) the Barons will be facing ahead was given away too soon, it's totally guessable and that takes away the suspense of it.
Anyway, I recommend this book and I'll be looking forward to the next one of this miniseries. Go, Barons!
