Confronting the Toxic Legacy of the U.S. Military
"The Threat at Home", a book written by educator/concerned scientist, Seth Shulman, is a no punches pulled look into the threat created by the contamination of several US military bases.
In just a few decades since this book was written the threat at home has become the reality at home. The current most well known base contamination and cover-up (Lejeune is not mentioned in the book with the exception of a pinpoint on a map) is what has happened at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. [link text][1] What has gone on at Camp Lejeune is not an isolated incident and only time will tell how many more cases of contaminated US military (current and former) bases will be uncovered.
We now know that nearly 1 in 10 Americans live within 10 miles of a contaminated military site. Sadly, for many of these Americans the threat has or will become the reality.
