When the eldest son fell in the well and most of the time getting help was spent pronouncing the name of the one in trouble, the Chinese, according to legend, decided to give all their children short names.

Okay, this is one where I think I might remember it, but I'm not sure. It is also another one on the Memoria Press Junior Kindergarten list. It's a story that explains in a long roundabout way why chinese children have short names. I'm not in love with it, but it's amusing I suppose as a whole. - 2012
I'm returning to this one again, today. We have a picture changing Audible book the kiddos can watch and listen to on the Kindle Fire as well as a paperback picture book I bought the first time we went through Memoria Press JrK so many years ago. I know now that it is because of The Funny Little Woman that I remember this author/illustrator duo.
My children enjoy this story and the irony of it's tale. I'm glad to revisit it once again. Do you know why the Chinese mothers' give short names?

I think it is important to respect other people's cultures and languages. Own voices will let you know if there are aspects of the story that are incorrect or insulting. They have spoken and I respect their opinions.
