This translation, by Ray La Fontaine, is the first English version in the five-hundred year history of "Tirant lo Blanc." Accurate readable, and complete, it opens a window to a world of remarkable originality.

Wow...
that is... I read Lord of the Rings when I was about 10, and I fell, unconditionally and irrevocably, as Stephenie Meyer said :-D Yes, I became a fantasy fan, medievalist and fairy tale scholar very early on in my life.
So - when I spotted Tirant Lo Blanc Finnish translation 1987, I took it. (I was 18) And... wow. It's a ride.
I was most impressed by the fair princess' fate in the end of the book... it was quite graphic, if I remember correctly.
Anyway, this book was a huge influence in basically everything that came after it :-D Shakespeare most certainly had read it, and Cervantes :-D
