Fun, quick read that brought me right back to the stress of college applications (but in a good way?). I enjoyed the characters, especially Mischa. I was sure how much I would like the book after reading the summary. For me, the “overachiever” character usually gets to be a bit unbearable or unrealistic. Mischa was undoubtedly an overachiever, but wasn't just stereotype and was easy to relate to throughout the book.
see, the thing about mysteries is that they are literally so freaking hard to put down. I was stressing over who it was and than every time I thought it was someone, it was not at all that person. and THEN it had the nerve to be the people I didn't even think of. ngl, this book was so good. it had the best characters, and the plot kept me on my feet as I was not able to put it down. this was honestly amazing.
this was a fun read for a young adult book, but it wasn't groundbreaking.
as a mystery book it didn't really do much for me. it was fun to see them sneaking around for clues and testing their theories but it lacked the suspense of figuring out the mystery, which is what i look for.
the characters were kind of bland as well. my favourite was shira who was the ‘stoner' but actually wasn't, she'd only manipulated people into thinking she was. unfortunately, her character wasn't explored very much in the book.
