But...I just couldn't “get” the magic system–I sort of understand it, but not enough to get everything from the book I should. And I absolutely know that could be a problem with me, not McCullough. But I don't think it's my problem, I think he could've done a far better job explaining it all.That said, I liked the characters, I liked the plot, and I'll likely read book #2 pretty soon. But that's more to do with curiosity about a couple of the characters and wondering if McCullough does a better job describing the magic system so his readers can see what he sees.
