Once again, I am both delighted and sad I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of this. To start, I loved the pronunciation guide and book one recap. Not only do I wish all books in series had recaps, I wish they all had recaps that entertaining.
Is this dark in nature? Yes.
Are the most deadly warriors in Elysian also up to shenanigans fairly often? Also yes!
I may have liked this one more than the first, which was already a pretty high bar. The humorous moments were mixed in well to offset the darker aspects of the story line. I just love this group of characters and how they banter back and forth with each other. They might talk shit pretty consistently or squabble like children but it makes them the perfect found family to me. This one is also spicier than the first as that slow burn ignites. [And Garrik's idea of a cold shower had me giggling.]
Can't wait to see them burn everything down in the next one.

“I take offense to that.” Aiden stated dryly.
“You were meant to.”
