Wow! I was not expecting to like this book so much. I went into it with curiosity. This isn't my genre. I figured I'd like it and not love it. But from chapter 2 I was absolutely sucked into the plot. I finished the whole book in 48 hours. I couldn't put it down. So surprisingly delightful!
This is a fun novel! All the twists and turns of a thriller which involves the US Supreme Court and a lot of medical research made it a good read. It took me a while to get into it and I think some of the characters would benefit from greater development, but I am definitely interested in reading more Avery Keene novels.
This book was slightly disappointing. I had such high hopes! This was very political, which I knew going in, but because it's based on the US Justice system my knowledge was limited. I feel that this book required more in-depth knowledge to get the full experience. As such, I merely found it okay, and was let down. Would recommend it to US readers though
This book was a fun read. A plot-driven page-turner that definitely kept me engaged and wanting to see what happened next. The plot is somewhat complicated, so I really applaud the author for planning it so carefully and figuring it all out. Also, her level of legal knowledge and research is impressive! My only criticism is that sometimes it felt a little bit tedious wading through all the legal wording and intricacies, and I didn't necessarily feel like I cared all that much about the characters because they felt kind of secondary, especially in the second half.
Excellent book! First I've “read” from Stacey Abrams. I will be reading or listening to more of her stories. Stacey did a great job of setting the scene and slowly letting the story unravel. I won't say anything to give anything away, but if you enjoy political adventures or murder mystery, this would be one that deserves a place on your shelf! Expertly narrated by Adenrele Ojo. She did a great job of distinguishing between the different characters and even managed Indian and Middle Eastern accents.
