Honestly I think about this book daily so I'm bumping my rating from a 4 to a 5 and adding it to my favorites shelf.

So weird. So good. Honestly just wish it was a bit darker and more intense.
What an interesting story. It gave me Coraline and Beetlejuice vibes and I devoured it all. I understand the water and the sailboat being important, and I know there's a deeper metaphor, but I don't fully understand the reason for it. I sometimes need my metaphors and their meanings clearly spelled out to me. Besides that, I'm genuinely surprised Magpie didn't go for Eryn, Allison, or her mother in her revenge journey. And what does it mean that Mr. James and Gabriel came back in the first place, and then the additional mystery of Brandon not coming back?? So many questions that I would love to have the answer to but I assume it was left blank on purpose for the reader to decipher for themselves. Katrina Leno has a very creative way of world building and I would like to read more of her books one day.
I really enjoyed this book. There was nothing glaringly wrong with it it just never reached that five star feeling for me
