This was an Extraordinary disappointment. I had Very high hopes for this one because the synopsis sounded Delightful and fun. Instead, this was a complete disaster. For one, the writing style is much like what you would expect a middle schooler to write like, not an Adult Woman with a husband.
Example: “If there's something to be learned from Big Jim's horror films, it's that you should never insert yourself into a precarious situation, especially if you're a scantily clad blonde with breast implants or a MoFo with black skin.”
Not only is this childish, but that last part was Completely unnecessary and, quite frankly, offensive. I could find more but I don't feel like wasting my time on it.
Another thing was that the character, S.T. (which, by the way, stood for “Shit Turd”, because this wasn't obnoxious enough), was a horrible representation for crows. All he was concerned with for the majority of the book was humans, to the point where, in some parts, he Actively attacked other crows instead of working with them. Now, I will say, in the end he was able to put aside his differences to work with one murder of crows, but for the majority of the book all he cared about were humans, or animals who had lived with humans.
This does get 2 stars instead of 1 because the plot was pretty original, and S.T. did grow up a little in the end, but for the majority of the book, I was incredibly annoyed both by the writing and by S.T.'s actions. I had been so looking forward to this too -_-
It's been a couple of days since I finished this and I'm still so upset about that ending!!! @Christelle Dabos turn on your location I just wanna talk (joking, this is purely a joke)
I will most likely never read this again after I finally pass this class, but it does put things in an easier-to-understand way.
I'M SORRY?!?!?!? WHAT WAS THAT?!?!?!? WHY DID RONAN OF ALL PEOPLE STAY ASLEEP??? MY BRAIN CAN'T TAKE THIS WTF
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was So much better than the first book!!!!! I really REALLY loved all of our main characters, Especially Nik!!!!! I thought they worked a lot better together than the first two!!! I will admit, though, I personally think Hanna and Kady should be together, not Nik and Hanna. They do work together well!!! It's just that Hanna and Kady get along like a Wildfire, and I will admit I think Nik deserves someone who is kinder to him than Hanna. Also Kady still deserves better than Ezra. Anyways, that being said, I am IN LOVE with this universe!!!!!! I'm SO EXCITED for the next one!!!!!!
OH MY GOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!! That was absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!! First off, the Diversity in this was PERFECTION!!!!!!! I really Really LOVED how all the characters were written!!!! I care these characters SO MUCH!!!!! And the romantic TENSION!!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I really Really LOVED this SO MUCH!!!!!!
My neck and back hurt from sitting in one position so long just to read this. I can't even put into words the happiness this book has made me feel. It's seriously amazing and I would recommend to Anyone!!!
Honestly? I really did Not like this. The only reason it's 2 stars instead of 1 is that the character Bea was pretty cool. Otherwise, I thought the writing was a boring and poorly paced. Plus it had a trope that I Hate, that I hadn't expected it to have.
I really Really liked this!!! The overall plot was FANTASTIC!!!! And while definitely different, the writing style was Really fun once I got used to it!!! I also Really LOVED Kady and (most) of her character arc. The reason it's 4 stars instead of 5, however, is Ezra. I thought he was annoying, and quite honestly? Unnecessary to the story. I would have liked this a Lot better if he wasn't in it at all. Especially his “romance” (if I can even Call it that) with Kady. It felt so stale and forced, it was aggravating to have to read through those parts as well as the rest of the book. Their “romance” was completely unnecessary, and just shows how many authors love to put romance as a subplot device, even when it detracts from the actual story. Besides that however, I Loved it!!! This is a Very good sci-fi plot, and I LOVED several of the side characters!!!
This is definitely my all time fave dystopian book of all time! I hadn't realized until recently that it was a series, and I'm super excited to dive into the second book!!
This is SUCH an interesting autobiography!!!!!! Normally, I don't like autobiographies, or even biographies, but Marjane Satrapi wrote this SO exceptionally well!!!!!! Not to mention, she is just a Fascinating person in general!!!!!!
DNF at page 190, I figured this info would be outdated a little, but some of this is blatantly wrong, and the amount of sexism, antisemitism, and ableism is pissing me off.
OH SHIT!!!!! THAT ENDING!!!!! While I will say, I do like the first book better, the Ending of this one is what really made it for me!!!! I HAVE to start the final book tonight, I just Have to!!!!
This really wasn't good. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because it ended well. The writing was bad and the plot was even worse. It almost destroyed the deep, loving relationship Ayla and Jondalar built in the 3rd and 4th books. I personally think Mrs. Auel should have finished the series with the 4th book, as the 5th and 6th books weren't anywhere near as good as the rest of the series.
This is a very tragic yet beautiful story about human dignity and compassion. It's horrifying but important. More people need to read this book and also learn about the true events that this book inspired.
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Ok so this was a LOT!!!! I can now Definitely say I'm in the Mira Grant fan club!!!!! Her writing style was absolutely PHENOMENAL!!!! I LOVED her sense of humour!!!!! It was a little hard for me to get into at first, but that's mostly because of the finer details about journalism. I personally have never been interested in journalism, so it took me a little bit to get into it. The humour and the relationship between the characters Definitely made it easier though!!!! And it was just written so beautifully!!!! If you like zombies and humour I can Not recommend this enough!!!!!!
God this book hit me so damn hard in my Emotions!!!! I always loved the movie as a child but I'd never read the book until now, but Clearly I should have read it sooner!!!
