I really enjoyed this and would have read the entire thing in one sitting had I not been required to go to work today lol. I liked the world and the characters. I also liked the inclusion of other characters POV's randomly throughout the story. Also did not see the twist at the end coming!

I enjoyed this enough to read it in one sitting. I like when retellings stay true to the original while adding their own spin on it, which I feel this story accomplishes. The world building and characters were well done. I also felt the spice was appropriate and added to the story. Looking forward to more in the series!

I somehow missed this was a connected standalone when I requested it lol. Either way, this moved at a pace that was hard to put down and I really enjoyed this.

The premise of this had potential and it was an easy read but sometimes things weren't fleshed out enough making it hard to follow exactly what was going on in the story. I also felt a few times the spice in the story didn't actually add to the story and was arguably at inappropriate times.

Another good installment to the series. I enjoyed the new cast of characters and look forward to where it goes after the ending of this one.

Certainly an easy read and some of the things I didn't care for (little world building, flat characters) is somewhat resolved by the story being under a hundred fifty pages. I'm also not really feeling this as an enemies to lovers story when the main male spends eighty percent of the book being a dick to his mate.

I enjoyed this a lot. I loved the relationship between the two main characters. Their bantering and tension was well done, as was the spice. The end was pretty busy and I'm curious to see where it goes next!

This was an easy read that I finished in one sitting. I enjoyed the development of the relationship between the two main characters. The ending felt a smidge neat and I think could have been fleshed out a little more but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

This was a fun read. I enjoyed the mystery and the characters. I also enjoyed the relationship progression between the two main characters. Looking forward to more adventures from these two!

3.5 stars. I think is another read that is good if you want to dip into fantasy without becoming overwhelmed. It was a quick and easy read and I enjoy morally grey characters.
Personally, I felt the world and character building weren't really there. I also wasn't really feeling the relationships between the main female character and either male.. felt a little too close to instalove for my preferences.

While this was easy to read, I don't feel there was any real world or character building. The book took place in the span of a monthish and the relationships felt a little instalovey to me. I think as a result, the spice scenes were kind of weird to me and didn't really add to the story.

I was surprised and delighted to receive an ARC for this. I enjoyed this one and thought it was a good read. Though.. I wish they'd finish the dang house already. I'm starting to feel like Eve regarding it. :P

I was pretty excited to once again receive an email for an early copy of this. It's wild to me this is book SIXTY of this series!! It is probably my favorite out of the recent ones. The pacing was good and it was hard to put down. It was interesting to actually get to learn about the Urbans and have them be more than just reference.

This was an easy and fun read. While I did guess some parts of the mystery, there were some added elements I was not expecting and what I did guess didn't take away from my enjoyment. Looking forward to the next one!

This was an easy read but I feel there wasn't a ton of world or character building. I think if you want to dip your toes into fantasy without being overwhelmed by those things that it may be a good fit for you.

Bummed this is over but I thought this was a good ending to the series. The pacing was good and the end hit me in the feels a few times.

3.75 stars. I liked the slow burn between Maeve and Tristan/her relationships with her other friends as well as the dark academia vibes but something about the pacing was just off for me. I think maybe because of the way the first half felt like a lot of information and less storytelling.

Actual review 3.75 stars.
This was a fun ready that was easy to breeze through. The pacing was good, not very spicy if that's a pro or con for you. I would have liked to see more character and world building. The use of "modern" slang felt out of place at times with the world.
I"ll probably read the next one though since I'm curious where it'll go.

Actual review: 3.5 stars.
I was pretty excited to receive the email inviting me to an ARC for this. I suppose my first clue that this was not as gripping as the first was that it took me a week to read it. It felt like most of the book was just repetitive and tbh, I expected there to be more progress made towards defeating Dobbs. I feel like a lot has to happen in the third to "catch up."

This was a fun read. It gave darker/gothic Caraval vibes and having to summon Blackwell by saying his name three times reminded of Beetlejuice lol. I enjoyed the world and the characters. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
The first two thirds of this: walk, fight, fight feelings. Repeat.
The last bit is all you really need and I 100% saw the ending coming. It's kind of a bummer because I really enjoyed the first one.

I was intrigued by the premise of this and enjoyed the beginning but the second half was kind of flat to me. I didn't feel there was a ton of character development as the story went on.
"At first, I assumed they were simply protecting the females in the room, but apparently the males here are just assholes."
Still true imo but two of them I felt were less so in this book. I had concerns after the first one but I'm delighted with the path this took and can't wait to read the next one.
Finishing a series is always a little bittersweet. I thought this was a good ending to the series overall though I am wondering (and hoping!) maybe some of the side characters will get their own story? 🤞🏻
