This book was like riding a slow rollercoaster that you can see every twist and turn of ahead of time. Sure, it was a bit predictable, but honestly, it was still a fun ride!
This book could've been a 5. Take away the girl detective, the main lady, and the husband pov this book would've been great. But all the added point of views wasn't it especially when they didn't really play such a big part. Toooooo much back and forth. But over all it was a decent listen
Let's talk about “Woom” by Duncan R. Brace yourself, folks because this one is a rollercoaster of a read.First things first, it's the writing that keeps you hooked! then add the shorts, and then the ending like 5/5 for me.
The kind of book that has you saying, “Just one more chapter,” and suddenly it's 4 a.m. How did that happen?
But here's the kicker – it's the kind of messed-up that you can't look away from. It's like watching a car crash in slow motion, and you can't avert your eyes. and you're just hoping everyone is okay.. that is literally the only way how i can explain this book.
And dont worry about the extreme horror trigger i didnt really think of it as one. Take it one chapter out a time. It kinda is like stand alone episode that lead to a bang of an ending. The way everything ties up at the end? It's like watching a magician reveal the secrets behind the tricks. You're left in awe, thinking, “Wow, just wow.”
So if you're ready for a suspenseful, intense, and slightly twisted journey that'll keep you up way past your bedtime, “Woom” is your ticket. Just make sure you've got plenty of snacks and coffee on hand. You're in for one wild ride...
It was a little weird in the beginning but I slowly started getting into it and by the end of it I actually truly enjoyed this book. This is my first Tessa book def picking up one of her other ones.
it was... mid at best.
Sex was wack, friendship was mid. They both expressed how much one meant to the other but there was no development to when it happened or why they because such good friends. Other than one embarrassed herself and the other laughed.
Seem more small town in the beginning than new York to me... it was just meh tbh.
These moms just threw an over-the-top party, and as the night winds down, only the core group of women are left. But here's the kicker – one of them isn't going to make it to the end of the night. And another mom might be the one to blame.
Can you figure out who the killer is? And why? I couldn't! I was chasing red herrings all over the place. There are so many juicy secrets and profound lies. Everything comes to light in the most explosive way.
I'll be honest – it was pretty tough to get halfway through because of the tangled web of lies. But let me tell you, the twist near the end? It got me good. I absolutely devoured the ending!
If you're into drama, suspense, and a whole lot of secrets, this one is for you.
From the very first sentence, I was hooked. I did have my guard up from the jump but i trusted our main character and her unexpected ‘sidekick,' and was completely horrified by this small Kansas town.
The story is wonderfully twisty without feeling gimmicky and there's a definite edge through everything. And seriously, I didn't even know people sell dirt for other people to eat—I was disgusted and intrigued all at once!
I absolutely loved this and I'm so glad I read it! But, I'll admit, it wasn't very memorable. A couple of months later, I couldn't even remember what it was about and started re-reading it until it hit me. Overall, a good read, but not one that stuck with me. will read more from this author.
i really enjoyed this book
the twist in it tho was one I definitely DID NOT see coming!
So, “All Good People Here” – talk about a curveball! This one caught me completely off guard. The ending was like a plot twist from outer space, and I did not see it coming.
But let's get real. The journey to that jaw-dropping ending? Painfully slow. I mean, I had time to read several other books in between chapters. The writing could've used a bit more, or a lotta bit more oomph. The plot? It had its moments, but it felt like a long, drawn-out game of chess.
Yet, that ending! It's like the grand finale of a fireworks show. The sky is dark, you're thinking it's over, and then BAM! The sky explodes with color.
So, if you're willing to trek through a slower-paced tale for that grand finale that's worth the wait, give “All Good People Here” a shot. Just be sure to have a few other books on standby for those slower parts.
Oh, “The House Across the Lake,” you've had me all twisted like a pretzel. At first, it's like a rollercoaster climbing up that suspense hill, and then out of nowhere, it was like O M G W T F! A colossal twist smacks you right in the face in the middle.
But here's the thing, after that twist, it's like trying to untangle a nest of Christmas lights. You're lost in a maze of events, characters, and questions. Who's who? What's what? But guess what? Just when you're about to throw in the towel, Sager reels you back in with more mystery and intrigue.
The ending? It's a riddle wrapped in an enigma, leaving you with more questions than answers. Is it her? Is it not her? We may never know, and that's the magic of it.
Now, the icing on the cake? They've turned this mind-bender into a Netflix movie. Popcorn and remote, here I come!
If you're into thrillers that'll keep you guessing long after you've turned the last page, give this one a shot. It's like a puzzle you can't resist trying to solve.
Wow, just wow! “The Perfect Marriage” catapulted me into the thrilling world of psychological suspense in a way I haven't experienced since starting this genre. From the very beginning, I convinced myself it was one character based on statistics, but oh, that was before i picked up the book and started reading.
This rollercoaster of a psychological thriller had me pointing fingers at not one, but three characters. The story unfolded in ways I never anticipated. It's a testament to the author's genius that my first suspicion wasn't even a fleeting thought as I delved deeper into the narrative.
This book deserves a resounding five stars across the board. The suspense, the unexpected twists, and the constant guessing game kept me hooked until the very end. And can we talk about the upcoming movie? I can't wait to see this enthralling story brought to life on the big screen. “The Perfect Marriage” is a must-read for any fan of psychological thrillers!
Loved loved loved this booooook!
It was so cute predicatable but the writing made me feel like I was back in high school. Giddy and smitten.
I give this one 3.5
I loved a lot about this book, with the main thing being the characters. This is very character driven book not so much about the plot. Even tho the anticipation of know what happen in Croatia was building like the best tension I've ever read to leave me like... meh. I can't believe after all that back and forth that's the only thing that had happened...
but I have to be honest—I think it could've wrapped up around chapter 32. That would've been such a dramatic ending, leaving me sprinting to know more! After that, I didn't really know where the book was headed. Chapters 33-36 felt like they dragged a bit and could've been condensed into a bomb epilogue instead.
Overall, it was a solid read with some great moments in between the characters. The banter was top tier in my eyes, but it lost a bit of its momentum towards the end.
This one was recommended by a friend who looooves this book. And gosh i rated it an extra star just cause i love my friend that much. This book had me perched on the edge smiling and feeling giddy, while rolling my eyes and begging for more.
TSLD is like a beautifully wrapped present, and I'm all excited to tear it open. But here's the catch: slow burns aren't exactly my cup of tea. It's like trying to start a campfire with damp wood. I crave a story that ignites right from the get-go. Elena Armas, you've got the writing chops, but maybe its just me...
i'm not here for slow burns, sis. It's like trying to light a fire with a wet match. The spiciness? Well, let's just say, I needed a bit more heat in my life.
But let's not kid ourselves. Even when I was rolling my eyes or lamenting the slow burn, I couldn't put it down. There's something about the storyline and the characters that keeps you hooked. It's like a good TV series that keeps you coming back for more, no matter how much you complain about the cliffhangers.
So, if you're into romantic tales that put your patience to the test but have an undeniable charm, “The Spanish Love Deception” is your jam. But bring a fan because you might need it!
This was my first John Marrs book, and man, was it gooooood!
I seriously couldn't put it down. I've never swapped from feeling sorry for a character to absolutely despising them so quickly! This book was definitely a whirlwind of emotions. And for our main character to be that messed up even after everything kinda sorta works out for her... wow.
I guess you really don't know what's happening behind closed doors... You just have to read this one and get back to me. I think about these people all the time! I literally couldn't believe what I was reading!
I'm still figuring out my reading preferences, and this one was a bit of a mixed bag for me. A.R. Torre knows how to keep you hooked, that's for sure.
The story is about two women, Cat and Neena, who are tangled up in a toxic rivalry. Cat has a perfect life with her dreamy, successful husband, William. She's living the dream, but she's got a secret that could mess it all up.
Neena wants everything Cat has—especially William. She lands a job at his firm and moves in next door, plotting to weasel her way into their lives.
What's cool about this book is how it dives into their minds. You get all their juicy, unfiltered thoughts and insecurities. It's a wild ride, even if you can kinda see where it's going.
Overall, it's a solid read, but some parts felt predictable. Still, not every twist was easy to guess, and the ending had a surprising touch. And let's not forget—karma is a bitch!
super slow but the ending is worth it...
read it with my book club.
It was definitely a bit frustrating but I wonder if a second part to this because that ending
WOAH literally out of nowhere...
This one's like a diamond in the rough, with just a bit too much rough around the edges. If this book were half the size (with all the fluff left out) it would have hit a solid 5 stars.
The good news? It starts with a bang, reeling you in like a fish on a hook by Chapter 2. But then, be prepared for a leisurely stroll through the middle. Three chapters from the finish line, it's a bit like watching paint dry...
But, and this is a big BUT, it's worth the ride till the very end! Just when you're about to give up, BAM! A plot twist hits you like a freight train, leaving you with your mouth wide freaking open.
So, here's the deal: “The List” may have its slow stretches, but don't throw in the towel. Push through because the finale is a mind-bender, and it redeems the whole shebang. If you're into suspense and unexpected plot twists, this one's a contender.
50 shades of grey but better?
If you enjoyed the millionaire who likes to be a dominate vibe of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” then “Hers to Keep” by Anna Stone might just be your cup of tea. The storyline kept me hooked from the get-go, offering a captivating blend of passion and intrigue. i do wish there was more angst / tention between characters. you get none of that from that.
The shock factor hit me when the protagonist was asked to move out, adding an unexpected twist to the narrative. However, if I had one wish, it would be for the BDSM elements to be a tad more descriptive. The spice felt a bit flat, leaving me yearning for a more detailed exploration of those intense moments.
Despite this, Stone's writing style and the engaging plot kept me turning the pages. “Hers to Keep” is a tantalizing journey into desire, perfect for those who crave a touch of the unexpected in their steamy romance reads.
So, let's be real. I had this book on my shelf for what felt like an eternity, and it wasn't until I saw Netflix was dropping the adaptation that I finally picked it up. And wow, I sped through it! I love a good murder mystery, and this one didn't disappoint.
Despite being convinced I knew who the killer was from the get-go, the story kept throwing me curveballs. I was pointing fingers left and right, convinced it was one of three characters – and guess what? I was wrong. My initial guess wasn't even a blip on my radar by the end. Talk about a rollercoaster ride!
The book hooks you from the beginning and is surprisingly easy to follow, which I appreciate in a good mystery. It's a pretty fun read, with twists that kept me guessing and second-guessing myself until the very end.
Now, mix that with the buzz about the Netflix adaptation set to release this Thursday – yes, mark your calendars – and I couldn't be more thrilled. The BBC series adaptation is hitting Netflix on August 1st, and it's a date! I cannot wait.
Applause! Applause! Applause! This book had me hooked the moment I laid my hands on it. I'm still recovering from the ride – my nails have seen better days, and I'm both confused and dizzy, but smiling with joy. The storytelling is on point, the plot keeps you glued, and the character development is top-notch. The pacing? Fast and heart-pounding. The ending? Satisfying.
Pippa, our heroine, is amazing – think Nancy Drew meets Veronica Mars with a sprinkle of modern-day tech skills. She's smart, nerdy, funny, and brave, making her an engaging and relatable protagonist.
The plot revolves around Andie Bell, who went missing five years ago. Sal Singh, who confessed to her murder before committing suicide, was presumed guilty. But Pippa isn't buying it. For her school project, she dives into the case, teaming up with Sal's brother, Ravi. What starts as a simple project turns into a mission to clear Sal's name and find the real killer.
Andie's character is complex – she's a bully, drama queen, drug dealer, and blackmailer all rolled into one. It's weird feeling such strong emotions toward someone you're not even sure is dead, but Andie's personality does that to you.
The book keeps you guessing: Who really killed Andie? Is she even dead? Who framed Sal? And why is someone trying to stop Pippa's investigation?
I devoured this book, and my detective skills failed me until the very end. Holly Jackson always stayed ten steps ahead. It's emotional, enjoyable, nail-biting, mind-bending, and thrilling. Highly recommend it!
... this book was everything how up and down her healing journey is and how realistic and even I can relate to parts in this book is everything.
Truly don't understand the hype around this book i found myself lost in the sauce multiple times... i don't get it, plus it was such a slow start i almost DNF it. it got good after chapter 4 and this book only has 8/9 chapters...
Okay, so I had to sit and stare at the wall for a good 20 minutes after finishing this book because, wow. Just wow. Everything I love wrapped up in one intense read.
This book was practically calling my name from the bookshelf. I'd be lost in The Stand or East of Eden, and there it was, whispering, “Read me, Sadie. Read me all up!” So, when I had a day off, I picked it up around 3 PM and couldn't put it down. The next thing I knew, it was dark, rainy, and I was forcing myself to stop reading at page 237. I even had to ignore my family and my baked potato dinner because this book was just that gripping.
Without giving too much away, let me just say that Brother grabbed me by the throat and didn't let go. It's raw, emotional, and powerful, leaving me with a whirlwind of thoughts about family, loss, and the darker sides of human nature. It twisted my insides, broke my heart, and made me think long after I finished it.
If you enjoyed this book, hit me up with recommendations because I need more like this in my life. Ania Ahlborn has just earned a spot among my favorite horror authors, and I'm eagerly waiting for whatever she serves up next.
Alright, folks, let's talk about “Hallowe'en Party” by the legendary Agatha Christie.
I'm going to be straight with you. This one was a tough nut to crack. It's like slogging through molasses, and I only powered through because I had the haunting in Venice (the movie) to look forward to. Trust me, just watch the movie...
You know that feeling when you're hoping for a thrilling mystery but you end up with more of a puzzle than you bargained for? That's exactly what happened here. The plot was more tangled than a ball of yarn that's been in the paws of a hyperactive kitten.
So, if you're thinking about tackling “Hallowe'en Party,” I'm going to give you a piece of advice – maybe save yourself the headache and grab some popcorn instead. There are plenty of Christie classics that are worth your time, but this one, well, you can skip it.
decent buffer read
Caught this on a stiff your kindle and was surprise with how quickly I ate this up. It's giving 50 shades of grey but less cheesy. The beginning tho hooked me immediately. Jaw was on the floor with that scenario.
