I won't say much because the raven boys stans have told me to k*ll myself about... 100 times? over the fact that I hate the series
“There was only the quiet that came after all those things. There was only the quiet that came when you were the only one left. Only the quiet that came when you were something strange enough to outsurvive the things that killed or drove away everyone you loved.”
minor spoilers
This book was amaaazing! It felt like a very good continuation of The Raven Cycle, but with the focus being on the Lynch Brothers. Ronan and Declan have POVs, Matthew doesn't (yet). Then we have some new characters - Jordan Hennessy and Carmen Farooq-Lane who have POVs.
Adam is in there (well, it is Ronan's book after all), but he doesn't get a POV. There's text messages from Gansey and Blue to Ronan.
There's a lot of Declan Lynch eating antacids (because his brothers won't listen to him)
This may be a better book than the three stars I gave it. I can't decide if the reason I couldn't really get into it was because of the book or that I wasn't in the mood for it.
Anyway, this reminds me a lot of Stephen King but lacks the gritty characterization.
I think Maggie is a fabulous and imaginative author. She does a great job writing and developing her characters.
Amazing. I was iffy on several of the new characters at first, but Parsifal really grew on me, as did Jordan.
I would have loved to see more of Adam and I kept thinking that we would in the next book, but now I'm not so sure because of that ending. Shit shittity shit.
Loved it.
Oooh I was so nervous about this book. I love the Raven Boys series so much and deeply love Ronan. (I think The Dream Thieves is my favorite of the four.) I was nervous about stepping back into the world - and could Ronan carry it all without Adam and Gansey and Blue? Yes. That's all. Wonderful.
Oops, I guess I forgot to add this on GR after I read it! I couldn't put it down–as with all the Raven Cycle books I found myself in a battle between wanting to savor Maggie's lovely prose but also wanting to tear through it to find out what happens. I ended up tearing through it; I'd like to re-read it, and all of the Raven Cycle books. But who has the time!? augh
Anyway–lovely, can't wait for the next one!!
can't believe my slavic ass was happier about the fact that the author mentioned kavinsky in half a sentence when hennessy n ronan literally did what they did
