When it comes to love, no one is in charge. Isabel Chase is reeling. She’s just been offered her dream job as a staff writer on one of the hottest shows on television and quickly trades in the comfort of New England for sun, sand, and everything Hollywood. While stoked for what could be her big break, the show’s stunning executive producer has her head spinning and her feelings swirling. Taylor Andrews is at the top of her career. Everything she touches turns to gold and the studios know it. Just when she’s on track for total television domination, Isabel Chase arrives in her office and slowly turns her world upside down. Isabel is intelligent, sarcastic, and dammit, downright beautiful. Unfortunately, she’s the one person that can take away all Taylor has worked for. Will Isabel’s success lead to Taylor’s downfall? Or perhaps Isabel is all she needs…

I was really enjoying the book and then the author had to go an include a fake sexual harassment claim. I've never been a fan of that storyline and I'm even less of a fan now with everything that's happening in Hollywood these days. I feel like after that it all went downhill.
I don't see how Isabel went from giving up her job as a writer and being ok with going back to waitressing if needed because she couldn't work there without Taylor to accepting a job as a show runner that she wasn't ready for at all. It makes zero sense to me (her relationship with Taylor having nothing to do with the decision). She knew she'd have a job as a writer and she would have gotten to showrunner soon enough so I really don't get it.
So yeah, the last bit of the book was a huge letdown to me. Specially because I was enjoying it a lot until that point.
3.5 stars This novel has everything I enjoy in books: queer ladies, a good plot with amazing side characters and a dash of nerdiness, yet it took me a while (65% through) to really get into it and to start caring about the romance. I think it didn't help that the first sex scene was seriously CRINGY. It kinda threw me ha, and I had a hard time taking anything seriously after that, sorry. As a (TV) fangirl, I liked that Taylor was an EP and Isabel a writer for a popular, primetime show. I'm not giving up on this series though! The writing was decent and I know if I hadn't been in a slumpy reading mood, I would have liked it a lot better. I intend to pick up the second book soonish.
