I laughed out loud multiple times. I was also totally wrong about the solution to the mystery. The Aunties are trying their best to protect someone in this one and they get themselves into so many hijinks along the way. This one is better than the first one!
Ahh... I'm torn. I found some parts to be funny and endearing. But most of the times I just feel like... the whole story is over-the-top ridiculous. Granted, that may be what the author aimed to do – to showcase the eccentricity of the these aunties, but I just can't wrap my head around it. It's a chaotic mess, honestly.
On what supposed to be the BIGGEST day of your life, you're juggling the possibilities of a mafia family wanting to take out a guest during your wedding day and baby-sitting your over-the-top, eccentric, komodo-dragon-hat-slash-fascinator wearing aunties and mother. Yikes. And then you got these normal, unassuming in-laws. And then everything got messed up.
And your aunties got high on Mary-Joanna and your mother got drunk from a glass of champagne. Fun, fun, fun all around. As I said, chaotic mess.
Meh... I had really high hopes based off the first book and this one was just not it for me.
I felt that while the humour in the first one made me laugh out loud, in this one that didn't happen.

I was disappointed by the lack of Nathan in this book. I was looking forward to see more of their relationship but he was hardly in this book. And when he was he felt too nice. He never gets mad at her and doesn't really care when she's not there for most of their wedding. Also none of the guests ever noticed that the bride was gone for almost all of the wedding? The book was very plot heavy but I guess I didn't care about the plot that much. The plot twists were so absurd that they felt ridiculous instead of shocking. I can take accidental murder but the mafia that's not actually mafia but just a random family turned assassins avenging their son's death!?!? That's just a little too far-fetched for me. The wedding planner family felt extremely underdeveloped. The Aunties were so annoying in this book especially since they were all drunk/high for half of it. It felt like they made the stupidest choices possible in every situation. The ending felt rushed as there was no resolution with Nathan's family.
not as good as the first book, where it felt TOO absurd a lot of the time, but still mostly enjoyable
If you were okay with the shenanigans in the first book you might be okay with them here. I can understand people that think it’s too much. There’s a lot of repetitions.
Not as good as the first but it worked for me, somewhat. You do need to accept that it will be silly and go with it. But I’m in no rush to read the third book.
There are so things that are annoying, the MC is immature and at times annoying. It’s her wedding and there’s no interactions with any guests, it’s like they rented a wedding just for the looks and doesn’t know anyone, feels kind of weird. Even her best friends that are there, it’s like a cameo, blink and you miss them.
And the aunties murder boner… not so much funny as it makes me think they all need to be locked up.
And was it just me or was there a lot more foul language in this one than the first one? I don’t care about it but it felt a little out of place.
