Deze auteur wordt in sommige bronnen de meester van de historische roman genoemd. Nu ik dit genre als mijn go-to ontsnap genre heb ontdekt, vond ik dat ik deze toch een moest uitproberen. Maar....
Meh, toch niet dat.
Ik kon de personages niet echt uitstaan. De held was een rotzak, zonder kwaliteiten die het goed konden praten. De heldin was gewoon een kieken-zonder-kop of ruggengraat. Alle personages, inclusief de held en heldin, zaten veel te snel op hun paard en het plagerig geklets dat vaak leuk te lezen is in zo'n romans was hier gewoon irritant.
