Hilarious as ever. I started a re-listen of the Audible edition as a bedtime story and then realized I just really wanted to read this again!
Look, I know Jane Austen is an author that means a lot to a lot of people, I know she is a great writer, but she is just not for me. But you can get drunk doing a shot every time she used the word amiable.
This is a very well written story presented in letters that the characters write to each other. The story is very interesting. The main characters remind me of the mean girls in high school rather than “dignified ladies” of the time period. I agree with one reviewer who said: “there is nothing polite about Lady Susan.”
It appears to have been made into a film: ‘‘Love and Friendship” which may be worth checking out.
I really only read this for a challenge I'm doing. I didn't realise it was all just letters to and from different people. She wasn't very nice to her daughter!
This was my first time reading a Jane Austen book. It is this years challenge to read all books written by her. I didn't like the ending all too much. I felt like the ending was rushed and although it attempted to tie loose ends it really didn't. I look forward to reading other books by her as it is my understanding this was her first short story written and that she was really young when this was written.
A book that consists entirely of letters and whose h is a conniving b - and written by Jane Austen. Say what?
not my cup of tea. I get why she never published it herself lul. + one star because the ending got interesting. rest was meh. probably not the best book from Jane to start with
