Adopted woman finds out at mid-life that her grandfather was a commandant of concentration camp in WWII. The woman, Jennifer, is a black German whose maternal grandmother was the paramour of the commandant. Challenging - sad - tense - hopeful
Wow this was an amazing story and the amount of research she did of her families past. I feel for her pain of having to hide her past in situations because of the horrific actions of her grandfather. This reminds me of the question “Would you wear a sweater that was worn by Jeffery Dalmier?” Most people will not under assumption of linking to the horror he performed even if he never wore that sweater while performing them. She desperately tried to wear the sweater but could not really put it on. Putting it on means nothing about her character or actions but accepting the history.
