Well, I already love Nick and Charlie, so this short story was always going to be a favorite. They are cute as ever and even though this has a lot of angst due to Nick going away to college leaving Charlie behind, I knew they would be ok.
This novella focuses on Tori's brother Charlie and Nick after they've begun dating. It was better because it doesn't revolve around Tori (thank God) but it didn't make me excited to read the graphic novel that's based on them. I just saw a lot of poor communication and possibly a severe case of codependency between them?
I always think there's no possible way for me to fall deeper in love with these characters until I read another story featuring them and prove myself wrong.
Nick and Charlie's banter never fails to leave me laughing and I can never not audibly say awe when they have their cute moments.
Reading this made me remember when I was young and scared of losing them. Relationships have rocky moments and arguments sometimes are inevitable but it's important how you come back from them.

I'm so happy I took the time to read this novella.
This made me feel...A LOT. If you already love them, read it. But be prepared to suffer. It's a beautiful rollercoaster of emotions.

So this book was definitely boring. I get that not much can happen in a short novella like this, but the whole conflict was just miscommunication, which is a tired trope and is not very interesting. I found the drawings and design cute, however, and since it only took me a day to read, it was not a bad or wasted experience.
3.5 Stars. This story is a cute addition to Nick and Charlie's world, but not much really happened. I knew there would be a happy ending after a disagreement so everything happened as expected. As I mentioned when reading the fourth book, even though Nick and Charlie acknowledge how attached to each other they are, I still think it's too much. It seems like they do not know how to be their own person anymore and I do not think that's healthy. And yes, Charlie is allowed to be upset about Nick leaving, but his response was so dramatic because he is too dependent on Nick for his happiness. Nick at least seems to have things to look forward to, but still looks at Charlie sometimes as if he is the only light in his life.
It's too much.
A lovely wee novella continuing the teenage love story began in the Heartstopper graphic novels. This looks at one of those moments, when a simple misunderstanding threatens to destroy a whole relationship. Cleverly written from both characters' points of view, chapter about, it gives greater insight into why and how things can so easily fall apart.
Forget Romeo and Juliet - that was just insane obsession. For true young love it's got to be Nick and Charlie.
listened to the audiobook while i was walking around a bookstore and i started crying in the YA section
A good short read. Nick and Charlie personally work better in comic format. Oseman is absolutely incredible with comic writing, but I always feel a little underwhelmed by her prose fiction. Not bad, but her comics are just a whole step up.
But saying that, this was a still nice read. The first volume of Heartstopper was super wholesome and cute. That deals with the feelings of first love and crush. And this novella packs the emotion and deals with an older Nick leaving for university and leaving poor Charlie behind in his A Levels.
It's relatable. I'm a gay british guy and have been in relationships where the move to university has an impact. And not always a good one. It's scary. You don't get to meet up as often. Things change. That summer before university can be exciting, yes, but also anxiety-inducing on relationships and how they change. I think Oseman did a good job of writing about that. Nick and Charlie aren't always the perfect relationship, but I think Oseman is good at showing realistic struggles, and also their commitment and love to each other. They might just be becoming my favourite fictional couple!

El libro nos narra dos años después de los inicios de Heartstopper, y es una historia rápida y ligera de lo que ocurre cuando Nick está por irse a la Universidad, y Charlie tiene que lidiar con la idea de la futura soledad.
Sinceramente me gustó mucho, aunque en momentos me estresaba que ninguno de los dos quisiera hablar de sus problemas. Me pareció también un poco dependiente y fuera de lugar que su estabilidad dependiera de la estabilidad de Tao y Elle. Lo malo, es que para colmo no vemos exactamente cómo fue el rompimiento de ellos dos para poder valorizar más el impacto que tuvo en la relación de Nick y Charlie, y deja un sabor raro que al final volvieran, sintiéndose como si volvieron solamente para darles una ilusión de estabilidad a los otros dos.
Aun así, la lectura súper disfrutable.
This is a (really) short novella featuring Nick and Charlie from the Heartstopper series. This is 2 years into their relationship and Nick is finishes Sixth Form and will be off to uni after the summer and this is putting some pressure on the relationship. The boys have a fight and end up not speaking for a while, later making up and going back to being the sweet, cute couple we know and love. There's some artwork throughout the book but otherwise that's about it.
Unless you're specifically collection Oseman's books, I'm not sure it's worth buying as a paperback for such a short story, however good that story is.
