“Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen is a classic novel that has been cherished by readers for over two centuries. Here's a brief review:
Positives:
1. Character Development: Austen's characters are well-drawn and memorable, particularly the spirited and intelligent heroine, Elizabeth Bennet, and the proud yet misunderstood hero, Mr. Darcy.
2. Social Commentary: The novel offers a sharp critique of the social norms and class distinctions of 19th-century England.
3. Humor: Austen's wit shines throughout the book, making it an enjoyable read.
4. Romance: The romantic tension between Elizabeth and Darcy is compelling and satisfying.
Negatives:
1. Language: The language can be challenging for modern readers as it is written in early 19th-century English.
2. Pace: The story can be slow-paced at times, which might not appeal to those who prefer action-driven plots.
As for beginners, “Pride and Prejudice” can be a good introduction to classic literature due to its engaging characters and plot. However, the language and societal norms of the time might require some getting used to. It's recommended for beginners who are willing to take up the challenge of deciphering older English prose and are interested in historical societal norms.
Es la primera vez que un libro romántico me encanta. Excelente historia y personajes increíbles. Lo único que me pesa es no haberlo leído antes.
Not quite two stars, not quite three.
I didn't love it but I didn't hate it so idk.
Too much instalove in my opinion. Like I know that was just how it was back in the olden days but like no.
Downtown Abbey meets The Bachelor. Not a bad book I think, but the story is ALL AND ONLY about “girls and boys” in the high society of the 19th century England.

Each sentence of this book feels like eating the best dessert ever. Plus Lizzie is one of the most clever woman character.
Being able to unfold and read the letters was truly wonderful. By far my favorite reading experience!
lower your pitchforks, this book was just not for me.
I started reading this in 2016... it took me 4 years to read
The story is as captivating as ever, and the Audible version read by Rosamund Pike does it great justice. I'll probably listen to this again within a year!
This book is great to read as a companion to your 1L property and contracts classes. Unfortunately, my property class skipped the section on fee tail so I was a bit confused about the whole entailment fiasco. Aside from law, I also learned that perhaps the only thing more refreshing than taking a turn around the room is taking a turn in the shrubbery.
It's my favorite Jane Austen Novel. It is a window into a time. I love the story, wit, and characters presented throughout the book.
Quite agreeable!
Its an excellent story and it deserves all of the praise it receives. I'm glad I'm in a book club that put this in front of me because I never would have read it otherwise! I've now read the book, watched the movie, and watched the BBC series and it's all great.
I've rated it on the low end because as good as it was, I REALLY struggled to get through the book. There's a language barrier akin to reading Shakespeare, and I eventually had to abandon the written text in favour of an audio book. I enjoyed it, but it was work.
All in all, I'm a fan of the story but I don't think I'll be diving into other Jane Austen works any time soon.
This was the second time I met Jane Austen, and I must say it was a much more pleasant meeting. Not that I disliked Emma, but I did find it to be slow and tiring sometimes—not to say boring—, while Pride and Prejudice was much easier and nicer to read. The fault could be mine, of course, as I already knew Elizabeth and Darcy's love story and promptly read each page anxious to know how the next ‘scene'—I had only watched the 2005 adaptation—would be told in text form. I wasn't disappointed.
I fell in love with Austen's characters slowly—with few exceptions. Jane and, especially, Eliza were my favorites, just like in the adaptation. I liked their relationship—their sense of sisterhood—and how they trusted and confided in each other very much. Darcy had to grow on me, as I had forgotten how unpleasant he is when we first meet him, and, as always, I left the story wanting more of Bingley. I am happy to read no more of Mr. Collins, though.
At last, I'd like to leave here this excellent article (in Portuguese) written last year about P&P and Jane Austen: http://homoliteratus.com/jane-austen-nao-tem-relacao-com-o-feminismo-como-assim/
This is the second funniest book I've ever read.
Update 8/3/18: Even better the second time through.
I am an English major through and through, and I've managed, somehow, to squeak by all these years without reading Pride and Prejudice. I know, I know – it's sacrilege. I wish I hadn't been so angsty and resistant in college (or even high school), because I would have found out that my sense of humor is extremely Victorian. Who would have thought? I wasn't expecting Pride and Prejudice to be such a delight. Elizabeth is perfectly and properly strong-minded and defiant; Mr. Darcy is so brooding and cranky. There was humor and social critique that I wasn't expecting, as well as unexpected twists and turns in the plot. It looks like I have some catching up to do where all Victorian novels are concerned.

the prose was hard to get used to at first but i ended up really enjoying it ^_^ my favourite straight people
This book is an easy and fun way for kids to get to know Pride and Prejudice. The book is written in easy language and short sentences, which makes it very easy to get through quick. The art in the book is amazing as well!
Thank you NetGalley and Sweet Cherry Publishing for providing me with this copy in exchange for an honest review.
The number of Movie and TV productions of this classic led me to read it. Not bad, tho I liked the zombie version more.
