It continues to impress me that Briggs manages to pack so much into such a short novel. Each of the books in this series are approximately 300 pages long, yet the main plot is always wrapped up by the end and the characters are further developed. What I love best about each new installment, though, is that reading a new Mercy Thompson book is like reconnecting with old friends. After five books, the characters are all so familiar and true to themselves that they seem real (in spite of any supernatural abilities). Mercy has such a natural voice touched with humor that always draws me right in to the story and keeps those pages turning quickly.

Things are looking up for Mercy, so naturally, everything has to go wrong simultaneously. Pack politics and dodging the fae are nothing new, but her friends are now used to backing her up in crazy situations and are along for the ride. It's another fun entry in the Mercy Thompson universe.

This was so good and potato chippy. I could not put it down.
Mercy's friend Samuel is having trouble with being a wolf and his wolf takes over. Her friend Finn is missing. Someone in the pack is making trouble for her. She has a lot to deal with but does it with her usual bluntness and flair. So looking forward to the next book.
Simply amazing. I couldn't put this down once I had begun! Every book explains a little more about the powers surrounding Mercy as well as developing every character in the plot. With so many different characters to contend with, Patricia Briggs does a wonderful job. Fast paced, never boring! Loved the explanation of the pack bonds and incorporating even more fae. Can't wait till I read the next one!
